How Do I enter Historic Royalties and Royalty Payments?

Updated on

Historic royalties can be uploaded in a batch or manually entered to an agreement Agreement.

For recoupment to calculate accurately, please create and pay all historic guarantee invoices prior to uploading history.

Note: Historic royalties will not be listed on the Analyze Royalties reporting.

Access the Agreement > Terms >Advances/Guarantees

Press the actions icon on the specific guarantee line

Note: If you have more than one guarantee, you will need to split your historic royalties by guarantee and upload separate files to each guarantee.

Select 'Upload Royalties'

Download the Royalties Template

The Royalties Template downloads as a .csv file. Fill out the date reported and royalty amount. Once you've entered the data, save the file.

Hint: RoyaltyZone uploads your royalties to the applicable period based on the date entered in the 'Date Reported' column, and the Reporting Rule selected for the Agreement.  If you selected a quarterly reporting rule and enter 3/31/2010 as the date, royalties will show as 1st Q 2010. If you selected a monthly reporting rule, royalties will show as March, 2010.

Click on 'Choose File' > Find the file in the location you saved it > Click on 'Upload'

Scroll down to see how your Historic Royalties have been applied to your Recoupable Balance

Access your Royalties page to see the historic royalties and the advances that have been applied

If your historic royalties exceed guarantees paid and the licensee has made royalty payments, you can upload them as well.

RoyaltyZone will automatically create and pay the overage invoices

If royalty overage has not been paid (or paid partially) leave the column empty or enter only the amount paid. RoyaltyZone will create an invoice that is due.
