Often, when sales are uploaded, there will be retailers on your report that RoyaltyZone doesn't recognize. There are two causes for this:
- Your retailer is not in RoyaltyZone
- Your retailer is in RoyaltyZone but with different nomenclature or under a different distribution. Here are some causes of nomenclature differences:
- You are reporting at a lower level than they need. Example: You have a retailer named Charlies Chickens of Wabash but the licensor is not collecting data at the location level, so they have it listed as Charlies Chickens
- They have an apostrophe or dash where you don't. Example: You report Joes Feed, they have Joe's Feed
- You're reporting a store number they don't need. Example: You have Walmart #1234 and they have Walmart
- You're reporting a different order of the name. Example: You have The Country Store, they have it as Country Store, The
If your royalty report has unrecognized retailers on it, you will be taken to the Unrecognized Retailers Fix Page. This page will show you
- The distribution you reported
- The name of the retailer on your sales upload
- The option to map the retailer to a retailer already established in RoyaltyZone
The dropdown will show you the options you can select from to map your retailer to an established retailer in RoyaltyZone
- You can filter the list if you'd like
- Select the best match available if it seems to be the same. For example, in the below image the licensor doesn't need the location of the store, they are capturing all sales to all stores under one retailer.
In the below image, Joe's Feed should be mapped to Joe's Feed Store
- If your retailer doesn't exist at all, select "No Match"
- When you have mapped all your retailers, select "Fix"
Once you have reconciled all your unrecognized retailers, your report will continue to calculate until complete.
